Little to no break in period out of the box. Part of what makes them so comfortable is the soft leather which is also a bit of a downside as there is not much ankle support. The laces broke in a month, but that isn't a deal breaker for me. These are light duty boots, so if you are constantly on tools, crawling around on your knees and toes or do a lot of demo, I would look elsewhere - This is not at all a downside, they just will not hold up in that environment. Soles do not have much visible wear after 8 months of daily use. The leather is in good shape after seeing a fair amount of dirt and water. Stitching is starting to fray in a few places and there are some gaps where the boot meets the sole. They are extremely comfortable and I think they look great. While I cannot say these are the "best" boots I have ever owned, the comfort of them is enough for me to overlook some of the minor flaws. Hope this helps!!
