Toe Types in Women’s Safety Work Boots & Shoes
Just like in the men’s section, KEEN Utility offers boots & shoes with the full range of available safety features to women who work in industry. Whether your safety manager tells you which features are mandatory or you just want to know what’s what, here’s a list of what to look for and why when it comes to toe types in women’s work boots:
- Steel toe boots - Just like the traditional steel toe cap you know. Except like nothing you’ve ever seen before. Work shoes and boots with steel toes also provide other types of protection, including static dissipation, slip resistance, metatarsal protection, insulation, waterproofing and electrical hazard protection
- Composite toe boots - ideal choice if you need rugged protection without steel toe caps; these boots and shoes offer static dissipation, electrical hazard protection and more, and pass through metal detectors. Roughly 30% lighter than steel toes, they’re good for extreme high or low temperatures, and maintain an even ambient temperature throughout the footwear. Note: Upon heavy impact, composite toe work boots may not show a dent like an Aluminum or Steel toe would, but they can crack. In this case, it’s imperative to replace the work boot as it will be ineffective after a crack.
- Aluminum toe boots - These toe caps are 30-50% lighter than steel and have a sleeker appearance than a composite safety toe.
- Soft toe boots - Maybe your job does not require your work boots to have a safety toe but you still want all the other great features. No problem! KEEN Utility makes soft toe versions of most styles.
