DESIGNED BY WOMEN, FOR WOMEN
The original women's hiker for any trail, any season
We know the importance of finding shoes that feel good day in and day out. That's why we created a collection of hiking boots, sneakers, and sandals specifically for women's feet. Meet the Terradora family.
KEEN Terradora Shoes and Boots for Women
Here at KEEN, hiking shoes aren’t a nice-to-have, they’re a must-have. Being outside is our way of life, and we know the best hiking shoes are the ones you don’t even want to take off at the end of the day. Terradora shoes definitely fall into that category. From steep graded trails to your neighborhood footpath, the Terradora collection for women is all about getting out there in comfort.
Made for a woman’s foot
Every foot is different. (Even two feet that belong to the same person!) At KEEN, we’re always trying to figure out how to make more kinds of feet comfortable. That’s how Terradora got started. The idea was this: Hiking boots are usually designed for men, then size-adjusted for women. We wanted to design a pair of hikers specifically for women.
Since women’s feet tend to be shaped differently than men’s, we started with a women's last (the form a shoe is made on). We added a comfy EVA midsole, and included on-the-trail features inspired by the specific biomechanics of a woman’s foot; things like a grippy lug outsole, comfy arch support, and heel notches to alleviate pressure on the Achilles tendon.
Over the years, the Terradora family has grown to include hiking shoes, winter boots, and sandals. What are you looking for?
“I’d like a pair of comfy hiking shoes that let my feet breathe.”
Planning a hot and humid hike? Check out the Terradora II Vent shoes. The reinforced mesh upper supports you as you move while also allowing heat to escape. And it has a sporty look that won’t seem out of place while you’re in town.
FANS SAY: “The most comfortable hiking shoes I’ve ever owned! They have great traction, which is very important when hiking in California on dry, rocky, and loose soil.” - Pam
“I need waterproof shoes that will keep my feet dry.”
Whether you’re taking your dogs on a snowy winter hike or foraging for mushrooms in the woods, you need to make sure your feet stay dry. Living in the PNW, we know a thing or two about moisture. That’s why we built the Terradora II Waterproof boots. They’re made with a KEEN.DRY breathable membrane that lets vapor out without letting water in.
FANS SAY: “The tread makes me feel like I have four-wheel drive on my feet — nice and secure. I like that they are relatively lightweight and not clunky. They are pretty warm too, which is a must for chilly walks.” - Mandy
Pro tip: This pair also comes in leather — check out the Terradora II Leather Waterproof boots.
Looking for a low-cut shoe that’s still waterproof? Try the Terradora II Waterproof shoes. They protect your feet from the elements just like the boot version, but with a casual, sneaker-like look.
FANS SAY: “I usually wear running shoes, but switching to these has been a huge comfort upgrade. Walking through wet grass with the dog no longer equals wet feet, and they are soooo supportive and comfortable.” - Jean
“I’m looking for super comfy sandals to be active in this summer.”
Terradora sandals are made for moments of relaxation and action: soaking up some rays in the backyard or hitting the trail and getting some exercise. The Terradora II Open Toe sandals have easy-to-adjust ankle straps for customized support, plus a KEEN.ALL-TERRAIN rubber outsole for great traction. Add in a quick-dry lining and durable webbing straps made from Recycled P.E.T. Plastic, and you’re ready to hop across a stream or go for a lakeside trek.
FANS SAY: “I was reluctant to buy open-toed shoes for walking, but I really liked the look of these shoes. I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable they are. Every time I wear them I end up telling people how much I love them.” - Laura
For those of us who love flip-flops (but know better than to wear them on a hike), there’s also the Terradora II Toe Post sandals. They have that familiar flip-flop feel, but with way more of the support, stability and traction you need. And a secure, adjustable strap that keeps them from, well, flip-flopping.
FANS SAY: “I bought these sandals to wear when I paddleboard. They are comfortable and not masculine looking like a lot of sport sandals tend to be.”- Lori
“I want to enjoy the outdoors this winter. What about snow boots?”
When no weather report can ruin your fun, trek through the height of winter in sneaker-boot comfort with the Terradora Lace Up Waterproof Winter boots. They feature plush insulation rated down to -25°F. A waterproof, breathable upper seals out moisture without leading to overheating. Plus, the KEEN.FREEZE rubber outsole gives you excellent traction even when the mercury drops.
FANS SAY: “These arrived just a day before our first real storm of the year, and I haven't taken them off since the snow started falling. They are wonderfully comfortable — the down insulation really does keep my feet warm — and have a great tread on snow and ice without being too heavy.” - Karen
Pro tip: There’s also a shorter version of the Terradora Lace Up Waterproof Winter boots.
For a winter boot you can easily slip in and out of, check out the Terradora II Winter Waterproof Pull On boots. They’ve got a quilted upper with cozy insulation and a thermal insole to keep feet warm, plus cold-weather traction to handle icy sidewalks and frozen trails.
FANS SAY: “I was looking for something to slip on for quick runs outside in UP, Michigan winters, and I think I finally found the perfect boot! Warm, comfortable, and easy to put on.” - Kristi
Terradora shoes are made for women who love getting up early to start a new adventure. They love packing up the car, throwing some granola bars in their bag, and finding their bliss in the great outdoors, whatever the weather. And most of all, they love being on the move without thinking about their feet. That’s what a great pair of shoes can do for you.
