  • My buy another pair

    4

I bought the purple pair. I love the way they look even when filthy. I am still breaking them in and they are roomy and comfortable. While into about 4 miles of a hike I noticed the bottom knuckle of my big toes start to hurt, I am hoping this gets better with wear. Other than that they are very comfortable. I did buy a half size larger as suggested. The toe protection is wonderful.

I love my whisper sandals, I thought these would have just as good an arch support and be flexible, but they are very flat footed. I wore them around the house for a week and they did not break in at all. I love the color and design but the arch is bad.

I still like my Targhee II Waterproof shoes.

I wear my shoes on the daily to work as administration in a FWS field station. I wore my last pair for 5 years, 5 days a week until they started to wear out. My new pair is nice and so I am giving them 4 stars. The last pair was a 9.5 fitting perfect and this time I had to return them and order a size 10. My toes were hitting on the end of the shoe when i walked, It feels like the style changed slightly and both sizes slip on my heels. The toe area is a bit wider (which could be because they are a 10), making me pull harder on the laces to get them tight enough to stop the slipping. And the top of the tongue seems to have more padding.. which one would think is good. However it makes it slide around thus sticks up... being of no advantage and tends to make my the top of my feet sore. I took a ruler and measured the length of my old shoes to the new 9.5's when they arrived.. the new ones are shorter in length and the top of the back of the shoe height is lower. Its not the rubber heal, but the fabric part that is shorter. I purchased my first pair because I spoke to a rep and was asking about a higher heel (rubber sole) height due to spurs.. and they fit the bill totally which is the main reason I chose them this time. I am not sure if I will buy them next time. I am positive that some things have changed in the shoe making process, this pair is just not the same as my first pair... sorry to report. When you wear a shoe every day.. for 5 years... you notice when the next pair is different.

    Not as shown in picture

    2

Unfortunately, I have returned the shoes for two reasons. First they really were too big by ordering a half a size larger. Secondly, the picture shown for the color I ordered was olive and the shoes arrived and were black. I have had two other pairs of the Targhee II shoes in the past and have loved them. I was trying to replace a pair, but things have changed. I am now ordering the Targhee III to see if it fits better and has an olive color.

    Ouch.

I've had many pairs of Keens, they have always fit perfectly, and I've worn them all out. But I can't figure out what's with these Targhees. They seem to fit fine, but when I walk any distance the heel slips and my foot slides down so that the toes jam and there's a gap at the heel. I've tried lacing them tighter, looser, thicker socks, thinner socks, but still my feet slide. I gave up and bought a pair of Voyageurs, which is what my last pair was. They're fine. They have an extra lacing loop so the ankle is more snug. But those Targhees ... they're the first pair of Keens ever that made my feet hurt.

    Shaped virtually like human feet!

    5

Keen seems to have the hang of shoes for human feet - wider in the toe box than other brands of so-called-shoes. This style is wider than most Keens, yay. I'm able to place an orthotic underneath the insole - they seem to have anticipated that some customers will need more arch support than Keens provide. My only wish would be for a higher vamp - it's a bit constricting on the tops of my feet. (You'd think you could just leave the laces looser, but then the collar is too loose.) Luckily, these shoes are made of real leather, so heating the shoe in a low oven, and shoving a big rock inside will stretch the places that still bind a bit. The sole is sturdy enough for gardening, looks up to handling the back end of a shovel. Overall - workable, and that's a rare thing to find in a shoe. Good job, Keen!

1/2 size up- way too big

    1

I've had Keens for 15 years- several pairs all in size 8.5. For the Targhee II waterproof, I took the suggestion on the website to order one half size up- and when the shoes arrived, the felt ok but after several days use, the cushion broke in and they are way too big. Sorry to say, I can't wear them.

I liked the shoe, however, my heels slid while walking. I have another pair of Keens which I love. Guess I need to try another model

    Keen Changed Product Style

    2

For 10 years I have been buying my hiking shoes, winter boots and work shoes from Keen. I recommend everyone to check out this product. Back when this company had a small product line and what they made, they made quality. Best hiking shoes I have ever had bar none, but as it has been 10 years of abuse on my hiking shoes (2 pairs alternated) it was time to replace them. Yes, these are the shoes I bought but product name only. These Targhees are not the same quality of footwear I bought 10 years ago or that I bought 1 year ago with my Oxfords. There is not as much padding in the shoe providing comfort, they are not the already wide enough in the toe they don't need to be broken in I have become accustom to with Keen. Even though it's the same size I have bought every single pair of my Keens (10 plus pairs) this pair does not fit quiet right. To say I am dissatisfied would not be the truth, but disappointment is more of how I look at this. Disappointed that Keen has gotten so big that they have forgotten their roots and have gone from amazing quality to quantity production of their product. I hope they take a step back and review their product line.

    Most Comfortable Shoe Ever

    5

This was my first pair of Keens purchased last summer to wear on a 3 week road trip for hiking (not backpacking) in national parks. I am most comfortable in wide shoes and am between sizes 7 and 7.5. I bought this in 7.5 (not a wide width) and they are the MOST comfortable shoe I have ever worn. I walk many miles per week and I these are now my go-to walking shoe. I highly recommend the Targhee II. P.S. Waterproof is a plus when unable to avoid puddles when walking.
