  • I will buy again ( on 6th pair)

Wear them almost daily. They are my "Go To" work shoes. I am a ground maintenance person for a large Metro Park System. My job takes me from asphalt paths to unimproved trails and everything in between. The shoes have never failed. I also pronate and have prescription orthotics; the soles wear the best of any shoe I have ever owned. They are comfortable from the first wearing through the lugs wearing down to nubs.

Very disappointed in the manufacturing quality.

I purchased these boots from a fine retailer based on recommendations of others and perceived brand quality. I've been very disappointed. Within the first month the tread cleats began separating from the sole. This created squeaking and also the potential for accidents as the tread cleat would catch on things. I went back to the retailer and they immediately exchanged the boots for a new pair. I thought perhaps it was just a one off thing. I've had the new replacements for 2 months and another tread cleat has failed. This is an unacceptable failure rate. If I had been hiking with these and experienced failures due to heavy wear it might have been understandable, however I've been using these as daily wear so they will be well broken in before hitting any trails. If this is the quality of your current product, you need to change the brand name, these aren't worthy of your past performances.

    Best Hiking Shoe

    5

A few years ago I noticed some people wearing Keen shoes on the coast trail north of Brookings. they spoke very highly of them and it wasn't long before I tried a pair for myself. At sixty-seven, I have worn through many brands of hikers, Merels, Columbia's, HiTecs, Beans and others. This is the best shoe for the trail by far because it fits comfortably and it grabs the trail like no other shoe I've owned. There seems to be an extra round of grabbers on the edge of the sole that you won't find on other shoes and this makes for great stability on eroded trails that often slope downhill and would be slippery in any other shoe. Recently I tried an older shoe and the difference was undeniable.

Keen shoes not the same quality anymore

    3

I've purchased several pair of Keen hiking shoes. I prefer the ankle support of these shoes and like the wider toe box of Keens compared to other brands' hiking shoes. I did have to go up a size in these shoes compared to other Keens. The soles are not cut to exact fit for this shoe, making it look cheaply made, and come apart during hikes a lot easier after only a few months wear, compared to the older models who had a more custom, handmade look and were very durable for years. I am hopeful Keen will review the quality of their products and live up to their previous manufacturing quality. If not, I will not be purchasing anymore products from Keen.

Best Hiker/Trekking Boot I've ever owned.

    5

Spent 2 weeks hiking and traveling by way of train, from Florence Italy to Eastern Upper Normandy, France, in October. Italy was cold, but Switzerland was colder. These boots are light enough but waterproof and warm enough to get you through any climate. I wore these boots every day of my trip and 2 months after I've returned, I'm still wearing them and they look and feel exactly the same as they did on my trip. I spent weeks researching a good shoe for my trip and this was the one I settle on...it didn't let me down. Everyone needs a pair of these in their arsenal. I'm a faithful KEEN man now.

    Another quality shoe!

This product was purchased to replace another almost identical set of Targhee boots. These new boots have a little less leather up front and more stitching. Perhaps, this is to help cure the problem of too warm feet on hot summer days that I experienced with my last pair. They also seem to have thinner laces then my last pair. Time will tell if the extra stitching and smaller laces withstand the test of time. That said, these shoes have the unmistakable excellent fit and finish common to every product Keen makes. They are a joy to wear and fit like they were made specially for my feet. Keep up the good work!

    Still a winner

Have owned several pairs of this boot and have always been very happy with them. When the 8"Detroit boot was offered with the Targhee 2 sole I scooped up a pair and they are like a ridged moccasin. Previous to ordering this boot I tried the Targhee 3 and the sole just wasn't doing it for me. I realise that the Targhee 2 sole may not hold up to rugged hard use but it is the most dynamic footbed I have ever found.

I am on my third pair of these boots.

    4

I use the boots for hiking, walking around our 2-mile mountain "block", and working on our farm and woods. I'm pretty tough on boots, but these hold up pretty well, are light weight which helps my knees, have a wide version which fits my feet better than most boots, and remain good looking for those that consider that important. One problem, which hasn't seemed to improve in the latest pair, is the sole wears out quickly at the heel and after a year starts to separate from the boots. This is particularly a problem with the lugs that wrap around to the sides of the boot.
