These run true to size and feel like my older Keens did ten years ago, which is a good thing because some of the more recent models have not, including previous Targhees I've tried a few years ago. Build quality is excellent and they have good, outdoorsy all around soles. However don't think of these Mids as boots... they are shoes with less heel lift and less dirt crawls inside. They offer hardly any more support than a low shoe but the higher sides do protect your ankles from rocks. Albeit they are a bit hotter than low shoes. I wear a difficult to find size 17 and I appreciate Keen making some models in XXL sizes. Please make more supportive BOOTS for us big guys and please try to return more shoe manufacturing to the USA ~ I would gladly pay a premium for MiUSA Size 17 footwear. Thanks

Very disappointed in the fit. I followed tje recommendation to get a half size smaller than my old Targhees. Length is fine, but the wide is incredibly narrow and the upper material is very unforgiving. I've never worn wide widths before, but now I'm wishing I had at least tried it or just stuck with the Targhee II's.

For the record, this is my 5th pair of Keens and up until now I've had nothing but praise for them.

    Great Waterproof Boot

    By

    from Indiana

I've now walked a few rugged Trails at Turkey Run & Shades State Park in Indiana. (My feet were nice and dry the entire hike. Some of the hike was in in a flowing stream bed. Instead of trying to jump from rock to rock I just walked thru the water. This week I also had to work outside in the rain for about 6 hours. By the end of the day my feet were still nice and dry.

Last night I washed these boots and another pair of all leather boots. The Keens were dry by morning but the all leather NB boots were still very wet.

The only negative I have on these boots are that they are hot when indoors and don't breath very well.

Not an improvement over the previous Targhee II

    By

The upper is too stiff and does not breathe. Trying too hard, perhaps, to be an athletic shoe and not a boot. I'm going back to the previous Targhee II.

    Pros

    • Comfortable
    • Hold up to heavy use
    • Water proof

    Cons

    • Sole tabs separate 6 mos

    Best Uses

    • Hiking
    • Hunting

This new model are well made and fit well. I also have the previous ones that were leather but like these better due to the material. Fit is equal on both to me.
I have problems with the sole holding up on the 3 pair of Ken's I have but I do wear them hard everyday. A little shoe glue helps them

Shoes are outstanding. My 15th pair of Keen's in the last 7

I am an avid disc golfer, which is the reason my Keen's only last 6-8 months before I tear out the right front big toe. I have tried a few other major brands (Merrill, Solomon, Columbia, and a few others), but have found they wear out even faster (because I drag my right toe on the tee pad during my follow through right arm side arm throws). Also Keens are by far the most comfortable, best fitting shoes/boots I have ever owned. Wish I could figure out how to reinforce/protect that right front toe, which would probably double or even triple the life of my boots. I have tried multiple "fixes" for this problem, including bicycle patch/pool patch reinforcements and several shoe repair/reinforcement products with no notable success.
