I wanted an American-made shoe with a safety toe and EH sole that was comfortable all day long. I work as a lighting technician in television and am on my feet all day, 14+ hours a day. Up and down ladders, on lifts, on pavement, indoors and out. These are the most comfortable footwear I've ever owned. They don't FEEL cushy, but man--my feet NEVER hurt when I get home. The huge BUT is that the lace loops are TRASH. First, they'll cut through the laces, then on the 2nd or 3rd pair of laces (after 5 or 6 months of use total), they'll start tearing through the eyelets themselves, rendering the shoe unwearable. I found some little metal eyelets like speed lacers on hiking boots that mount with tiny internal screws (on Amazon) and replaced the torn eyelets for a couple dollars and ten minutes. With that fix--which looks good but ought to be unnecessary--these shoes lasted about 16 months, which is a long time for me. Now the soles have worn through, though the rest of the shoe looks great. I'm going to hold onto the screw-in eyelets and buy the exact same model again. It's an annoying flaw and inappropriate that the buyer needs to redo it, but even with that achilles heel these are the best work shoes I've had.

As soon as one year was up, eyelets failed, as did seams with the upper and sole.

I would have gave these shoes a 5 star rating, except for the fact that I have now worn them for 8 months and they won't quit creaking. Every step you take they creak and groan like you are walking on an old wood floor. I tried the old cowboy saddle trick and baby powdered them and that still did not help. Other than that they are super comfortable and light weight for a steel toed shoe.

First off, this boot/shoe is intimidating, it's aggressive looking and that's why I wanted it. I didn't realize the shoe didn't support aftermarket insoles, which is strange, not sure why they went for that route. The shoe also kept sliding off my foot, even in my thickest socks. I attribute that to ordering a half size up like I normally do with the Targhee II. I ended up returning the shoes for another pair.

      Love/hate

Comments about KEEN Men's Braddock Low (Steel Toe):

This shoe is by far, the best work shoe I've owned. I love the keen brand, I own many types.

Two of the low cut, and one boot style Braddock. They are very comfortable in my feet.

Now for the cons of this shoe.

The eyelets on the shoe tend to give out far before the shoe does. " need to toughen them up" I think it's due to the cord type shoelace they use. ( laces gave out way before their time also) Must cut into them. Both low pair I have ,have had this problem. The heel on my first pair gave out long before it's time. But I bought another pair.

I think I'll try one of the other type. 160$ is a little much to spend for my being able to lay more than a year. When you drive a truck for a living. So is not like I'm on my feet all day. I do run a route so I'm in and out.
