My Run Log

Location: Lacamas Lake Heritage Trail in Camas, Washington
Distance: 5-7 miles
Shoes worn: KEEN Seek trail runners
Hydration: Post-run water bottle
Pre-run nutrition: Oatmeal

Lacamas Lake Heritage Trail is an easy gravel trail that hugs the edge of Lacamas Lake from bottom to top. Full out-and-back distance is 7 miles, but I turn around when I reach the tippy top of the lake for about 5 miles total round trip. This is my go-to run on my birthday and mother’s day. I bring my inflatable paddleboard for a post-run SUP.

Favorite Part:
The lake views. I love being able to look out across open terrain when I run.

Toughest Part:
The toughest part for me is turning around. I always want to go farther than I've gone before.

Personal Takeaway:
It’s nice to have a go-to trail so you can track your fitness over time. Knowing the terrain also gives me confidence to push the pace a little.

My Shoes:
I ran in my Seek trail running shoes. They have the perfect combination of stability, springiness, and traction for me.

Other Gear:
I didn’t need much for a 5-mile run — a running hat, tank top, and running shorts with a pocket for my phone. (Birthday selfie!)

Pro Tips:
Get here early before the boaters show up and fill the parking lot. A post-run foot soak in Lacamas Lake feels really good.
