That’s why KEEN Utility builds boots are tough enough to keep you going.
The difference is in the fit
Women across industries know the truth: wearing men’s boots isn’t just less comfortable, it’s actually less safe. KEEN Utility is proud to offer a full range of professional-grade boots with all of the safety features you count on, specifically created to fit the working women who depend on them.
KEEN work boots for women feature our signature hiking-inspired work boot design, translated for the jobsite. A snugger fit in the heel and a more spacious toe box creates a one-of-a-kind work boot that redefines fit and function. All of our women’s boots meet ASTM standards, ensuring your feet are well protected from top to bottom, and have outsoles that are oil, chemical, abrasion, heat and slip-resistant.
The right boot for your job is here somewhere. Let’s find it. Pick the statement that fits you best:
“I’m tired of wet feet. I need some truly waterproof boots.”
Wet feet shouldn’t be part of the job. It’s important to keep your feet dry from rain, hoses, or standing water, but you also want your boots to breathe (so you don’t end up with damp, sweaty feet). Our women’s waterproof work boots feature a KEEN.DRY membrane that seals out moisture, but still allows your foot to breathe.

The women’s Seattle 6” Waterproof Boot is a lace-up leather boot. It’s waterproof and features a lightweight aluminum safety toe. Fans love the heavy lug outsole for better traction on even the muddiest of worksites; it’s also Electrical Hazard (EH)-rated) and available in an 8” version, the women’s Seattle 8” Waterproof Boot.
The women’s Cincinnati 8” Waterproof Boot is a true Goodyear-welted, heavy-duty wedge boot with a full-grain waterproof leather upper. The air-infused KEEN Luftcell midsole feels almost weightless, but offers amazing support.
“From the initial test of these shoes (plenty of room in the toe box, great support through the ankles and upper feet) to two full weeks working on a farm, these boots have been great. I was particularly interested in support, durability, and waterproof-ness. So far the boot has performed wonderfully and leaves my feet happy after long days on my feet walking, shoveling, etc.” — Laura
“What kind of safety toe boots do you have?”
We’ve got them all: steel, aluminum, composite, and carbon-fiber. Here’s a rundown:
STEEL TOE
Steel toes save your feet from heavy impact. KEEN Utility steel toe boots also come with features that provide other types of protection, including static dissipation, insulation, waterproofing, and electrical hazard protection.
For steel toes, check out the women’s Detroit XT Waterproof Boot — these women's waterproof leather work boots have a protective steel toe, plus a KEEN.DRY waterproof, breathable membrane for weather protection. The KEEN.KEY-TECH FLEX underfoot technology provides additional structural and torsional support from the heel and arch to just under the metatarsals, helping feet walk easier on uneven terrain. Dual-density cushioning underfoot keeps the comfort going way past quitting time.
“I have been wearing the boots for 2 weeks. Initial impressions. Sturdy boots. The break in hasn't been bad. I am skilled trades in a factory, machines and in work areas where the floors are oil covered and very slick. This is the first pair of boots in 25 years that weren't slippery.” — Noelle
ALUMINUM TOE
Aluminum toe caps are 30-50% lighter than steel and have a sleeker appearance than a composite safety toe, so some people prefer them.
For aluminum toe boots, check out the women’s Seattle 6" Waterproof Boot, Seattle 8” Waterproof Boot (both lace-up boots) or the Seattle Romeo Boot (a pull-on boot). All three feature a sturdy leather upper on top of a rugged anti-slip outsole.
“Picked up the box and I thought no way are these a safety shoe they were so light! Put them on and instant comfort! Had no doubt that I would not have to break them in. I am into my 1st four hours of a 12 hour workday on cement and my feet feel wonderful!! No heel rubbing, no toe rubbing, just a wonderful boot!” — Deedee
COMPOSITE AND CARBON-FIBER TOE
Composite or carbon fiber are good choices if you need rugged protection without the metal. Roughly 30% lighter than steel toe, they’re also good for extreme high or low temperatures.
Safety note: After a heavy impact, composite toe work boots may not dent like an aluminum or steel toe, but they can have invisible cracks that damage the integrity of the boots. Always replace boots after a heavy impact.
We recommend the women’s Chicago 6” Waterproof Boot. It has a waterproof upper, a carbon-fiber toe, and a KEEN.ReGEN performance cushioning midsole that offers 50% energy return with every step, so you can turn hours walking and working on hard surfaces into a way more comfortable experience.
“Excellent pair of work boots I plan to wear around the barn. Everything I was looking for: Carbon fiber toe, oil/slip resistant, waterproof. I have feet with bunions that need room to splay and these fit well.” — Kim
“Heavy boots drag me down. I want a boot that’s lightweight but still sturdy.”
The heavier the boot, the more effort you’re expending all day. If a lighter boot is what you’re after, you should try the women’s San Jose 6” boot. It has an air-infused KEEN Luftcell midsole for an especially light feel. It comes in two versions: a soft toe version, or a safety toe version with an aluminum toe (aluminum toes are 30-50% lighter than steel). Both styles are made of waterproof leather and feature an oil- and slip-resistant rubber outsole.
When your feet feel good, your day just goes better (on and off the clock). KEEN spent years perfecting the hiking boot. And then we brought everything we learned back to the jobsite. The result: a better fit for a better feel. That’s what sets KEEN Utility apart from all the other work boots on the shelf.
