I got my first pair of Keen, after I got plantar fasciitis. I was on excruciating pain. I couldn't even walk but I need it to wear a steel toe shoes at work so I went to buy a pair. I tried a lot of different brands of shoes and only the KEEN DETROIT MID fit like a glove on my feet and I had relieved of my pain. I wear 8.0 on regular shoes but this shoes were tight. The second pair I got wide and1/2 size bigger, were a lot better. But the soles wear out on 6 months. I read somebody recommended the SALEM. After 4 pairs of DETROIT MID, I get the chance to the SALEM; and I get the second pair a few months ago. The soles are more durable and are comfy too. Sadly I found out, there out of order. But I love the DETROIT MID and I highly recommend it!

I went out of my way to find these boots because I already had Keen hiking boots and loved them. At the outset, I loved these boots. Apart from being heavier, the fit wasn't any different than my hikers and I had zero break-in time. They were comfortable right from the start.

The trouble is, after six months of wear doing archaeological survey, the steel toes have become so painful to wear that I simply can't endure a day in them anymore. They pinch and the edges of the steel portions stick out and give me blisters. I'm not sure why this is when they were plenty roomy and comfy before, and my feet haven't changed size! I do realize that a few miles of hiking per day with lots of shoveling will wear down a boot faster than ordinary walking, but I really would have expected better than six months considering that I've had my Keen hikers for six years.

These boots are super comfortable! I can barely tell that I'm wearing steel toed boots thanks to Keen's asymmetrical safety toes. They're comfortable after a long day of standing on my feet.

Comments about Women's Detroit Mid (Steel Toe):

As soon as I put these boots on, I could feel they were tight in the toe box. The steel toe was pushing up against the top of my toe on the nail and the knuckle of my big toe was touching the side wall. The fit everywhere else was great and the tread was amazing. Unfortunately these didn't work out for me. The last pair of Keen's I had were the best steel toe boots I've ever owned, but they don't sell that version anymore (Salem).

      4 years with these boots

      By

      from Guatemala

Comments about KEEN Women's Detroit Mid (Steel Toe):

They were with me for 4 years, very light and comfortable. Great boots, shoe laces not so great after a year. Eyelet made out of fabric broke after two years everyday use. Wear of the sole as detached rubber might be expected.
