It's been interesting to read other reviews for these shoes, because some of them are quite different from my experience. I'm relatively new to Keen, having first given them a try when I happened upon a pair of clearance shoes in my size. Sizing is always a challenge for me, because 10.5 is often a smidge too long, but 10 is definitely too short. I also have wide feet, so my default is to go with a wide offering, if there is one. That first pair of clearance Keens fit *perfectly* in a 10.5 wide, so I thought I had finally found the perfect brand fit. Unfortunately, my next Keen purchase, the Targhee EXP Mid, was a disaster for me. Despite ordering the same size as I had for my first pair of Keens, the Targhees were so big in comparison that I have to tighten the shoelaces so tight to keep them from sliding that I'm practically cutting off circulation. (And in a total rookie move, I ordered 2 pairs of those Targhees, so I'll be paying for that mistake for awhile!) I was in Portland recently, near the Keen flagship, so we stopped in and saw the Venture. Very impressive looking shoe. It doesn't come in wide, but I decided to try it anyway. I was very surprised to find the toebox felt as wide to me as some "wide" shoes. Certainly not the narrow fit I was expecting. Best of all, they feel light as a feather compared to the Targhee EXP Mid. I tried wearing the Venture around the office, just to break them in a bit. But they don't breathe well enough to feel super comfortable while sitting at a desk. So I'll likely relegate them strictly to outdoor duty. But, all in all, very pleased with the purchase, especially when compared with my most recent Keen experience.
