I've worn KEENs for years and have many pairs boots, H2O Newports, shoes, all a mix men and women. My mom 'stole' a brand new pair of Newports from and now buys her own KEENs :) I find women's tend to run smaller slimmer through the shoe. Upon calling KEEN two years ago over a question on my women's Targhee boots they directed me to give their Gypsum boot a try. I fell in love with the model when they arrived and they came quickly. Two years later and with knee surgery I needed a new pair and first researched that this model required a 1/2 size up. I'm a 9 in women, a 7.5 in men's so I got an 8 in men's. I am in love. I got the coffee bean ones and they are so comfortable and supportive AND take my medical orthotic like a dream I want to sleep in them. Today I ordered the India Ink/Tango ones. If I feel crazy enough I'll get the forrest ones maybe. The point is that when you have a model that fits this well, buy backup pair. I fish, boat, hike, and daily am an itinerant traveling school teacher on foot rain, sleet, or snow, with a backpack, in NYC to 14 schools traveling on foot and mixed stairs and terrain at a timely running speed. These boots are phenomenal. 25yrs in the DOE NYC I can give an honest word that THESE are good.

Bought a pair of these boots last year to be used for hunting boots since they are water proof. Used them during last elk hunt with no issues, very comfortable and feet stayed dry. Same for this deer season then during this years elk season, both boots leaked. The failure happened while hiking on walk in only roads. Roads were gravel with grass growing over them. Was not like I was wading creeks with them so very disappointed with them and that is why only gave them a 3 star rating. On top of this, the one year warranty had expired by a few weeks. Still filed a claim with Keen and credit them with honoring their product as they sent me a new pair even though they didn't have too. Thanks!! The new pair arrived and will try them next hunting season expecting a better outcome.

When I did by the first pair in store. One boot was a good fit, the other was tight. Mentioned this to the salesperson and they brought another pair, (same size) for me to try. This pair was the opposite for fit. Asked is I could buy the two that fit and leave the two that were tighter and was given the ok. So when my new pair arrived sent from Keen, was pleased both were a great fit. The boots did require me to get a pair a half size bigger than normal for me.

These are advertised as hiking boots but I use them for hunting since they were so comfortable. Love the tread design as it clears of mud and snow much better that other tread patterns. Also very sure footing with the tread going up hill and side hilling. Would like it a comparable boot was made by Keen with higher tops, say 6" or 8' for more ankle support. Again, impressed with the comfort, just will wait and try them in the field next fall to see if they are really water proof.

I am a return customer many times over and these boots are one of the reasons why. The quality fit and look of them are by far the best out there. Thanks once again Keen.

Comments about Men's Gypsum II Waterproof Mid:

Lightweight hiking boots that kept my feet dry and toasty down to 10 degrees. Needed minimal breakin period. Hiked on a snowy trail around Cougar Mountain outside of Seattle and in Leavenworth. Has a boxy toebox which I needed but still not as boxy as older models. Almost as warm as my Summit County boots but definitely more agile. Great traction. Will be my go to hiking boot. The question is whether it will be too warm in the summer as my feet run on the hot side. I used to wear leather steel shank hiking boots for backpacking but I think these will be more comfortable and have enough stability as long as I don't pack more than 40 lbs.
