I had previously tried on the "mid brown/scylum full-grain" leather version of the Grayson. The tongue lacked flexibility and bit into me. Maybe that pair was an anomaly. Maybe they had slipped by Quality Control at the factory. Or maybe if I had given them time to break in, the tongue would have softened. At any rate, I sent them back to meet their maker. I also tried on the "coyote/scylum" version of this shoe. It has a soft tongue. The cushioning provides a pillow-like feel with every step. What's more, it is lighter and more breathable and much more flexible than the Keen Austins. The Grayson has rugged beauty and sophistication. It has a deconstructed design with a leather interior that molds itself to the wearer's foot for a custom fit. I highly recommend this shoe in coyote nubuck leather. Your feet with thank you. Your toes will no longer feel like they are being squeezed in a vice grip. And if you are a carpe diem kind of man who kicks butt in everything you do, this shoe is equipped with a thick black toe bumper.
