I bought a pair in order to hike half of the Appalachain Trail. After 1100 miles of rocks, mud and general abuse, sole began to separate from boot. I saw many hikers throw away their trail runners every 200 miles, but my boots kept going. After we finished,I thought I would inquire about a warranty, even though I did not save my receipt. To my delight,Keen stood behind the boots with a credit for a replacement. I tried on a lot of boots, now I know I made the right choice. Thanks for what you do!

Do NOT buy these boots if you need even water resistant boots. Hubby got these for work, and even just walking through wet grass leaves his feet wet all day! He tested these by standing in a container or water for a couple minutes and they worked great, until a month later. Keen replaced them with their warranty program, he got two pairs of different styles (Men's APhlex Waterproof Boot and Men's Oakridge Waterproof Boot) with the sale, that were also "waterproof." And you guessed it, a month later, soaking wet feet just from wet dew. Now we're being told that we "agreed to the warranty terms by accepting the warranty voucher, so nothing else can be done." The warranty voucher was our only choice, and now he's left with 3 pairs of water absorbing Keen's. Find another brand! And if you know of a good one that can withstand actual water for more than a month, email me! Again, Keen's are a WASTE of money!!!!

Nice boots, but lost waterproofing too quickly

    By

    from Condon, MT

Comments about KEEN Men's Durand Waterproof Mid:

I bought these boots after a warranty claim on my Targhee II's (split seam). Keen customer service was absolutely fantastic, very helpful and they went above and beyond. I like the Durand Mid boots: comfortable enough, nice hard soles that work well with the rocky environment on trails here in NW Montana and nicely waterproof...until they were about 6 months old (and not very often worn). The waterproofing just disappeared on a hike into the mountains, resulting in waterlogged and cold feet. I cleaned them and treated the leather, but same result the next time out. These were not "wade in the river" hikes but merely wet grass. Despite my liking the boots overall, and the excellent Keen customer service, I will have to try another manufacturer for my next boot purchase. I can't afford to buy boots every 6 months.

    Decline in Qualty

    By

    from Center Barnstead , NH

Comments about KEEN Men's Durand Waterproof Mid:

I am an avid hiker and trailworker and have been wearing Keen Boots for 10 years, giving them a good workout. The usual replacement cycle for me is about a year and half, so it's disappointing to have both pairs of recently purchased Durand Mids (size 13)come apart at the side seam stitching on the left boot, after only two hikes. Returning them to LL Bean.

Good stuff, but lace and eyelet issues

    By

    from Louisville, KY

Comments about KEEN Men's Durand Waterproof Mid:

I use these boots primarily for weekend hiking, but like just about everyone, we take 2-4 longer hiking trips a year. I have had these for 3 years and the lowers and uppers are great. The biggest issue is the second eyelet from the top which routinely eats into my laces (at least the outer portion) so I end up having to replace these. I ended up taking a Dremel tool to smooth the edges there and really haven't had issues since.
