Overall these boots have been great for me. Like other keens they were almost immediately comfortable. They have excellent traction, I don't think I've ever slipped while wearing them, and I'm a big guy, 6'5" 250 lbs. With the right sock, they keep my feet warm as well. I've had them for about a year, and recently they started developing problems. Some of the tread started to come apart on the sole, and the stitching started to come apart where the nubuck is lapped at the heal of the boot. Nevertheless, the boots continue to perform exceptionally. I contacted Keen to see if I could have them repaired, but they suggested filing a claim instead. I did and after maybe a week and a half Keen approved my claim, so now I intend to replace them with the exact same pair. If they hadn't I wouldn't have bought Keen again, but they did, and that's pretty awesome. Thanks Keen.

Loved the boot from the first time I tried it. Comfortable and supportive. Holds my socks up well, which was a problem with the Timberland Pro's I gave up on (but still wear because the footbeds wore out on the Detroit's and weren't comfortable anymore). I end up walking around a lot (outdoors), climbing ladders and through spaces, but don't think the environment is that rough on the boots.

The heel holds a little too well and sometimes it causes pain, especially when I wear them on my ride into work. The soles have spots where they are wearing out and coming apart. Just had replace the footbeds with K-20's and will see how they last this winter (bought in May, now November). I've had work boots last longer (bought a pair of Keen's Pittsburgh to replace, just in case).

I would buy them again, just wish they had other colors and were better built.

    Great Boot, but....

    By

    from Yakima, WA

Comments about Men's Detroit 8" (Steel Toe):

Overall this is a great boot. Except a few things. The sole started to seperate slightly, but I was more disappointed that the laces did not last 6 months and the "eyelet" broke on one lacing point. Now a almost a year I cannot find my receipt to look into replacement.

However, I have no problem buying these boots again. They are literally the most comfortable boot ever.

My favorite work boot hands down

Comments about Men's Detroit 8" (Steel Toe):

I call on a home improvement retailer on a daily basis. This means I am on concrete flooring for over ten hours a day. These provide ample support and shock absorption which is key if you work on concrete floors. I would definitely recommend these in this type of environment.

Comments about KEEN Men's Detroit 8" (Steel Toe):

I had never heard of Keen boots, but I have been looking for a boot that lasts more then 6 months. I am a truck driver and for some reason every boot I have bought in the last 13 years has not fared well. I am very impressed with the Detroit so far, there is no break in period; like others have said. Hopefully in a year, I can give a good update.
