  • Sturdy work boot, Order 1/2 a size down

To preface, I normally wear Thorogood Wellington boots for work and Ariat for casual chores. I work 12 hour shifts driving heavy recovery equipment so I need a boot that protects my foot from rough terrain and keeps my socks dry in deep puddles. I work with lots of winches and cable/chains so I also really need a boot that won't get shredded working in that environment. Cons: These boots are heavy; Not simply because of the steel toe, but their construction material adds a tad bit extra weight that you may not expect so be aware of that. They are also very tall, expect to grow an extra 2". They are bulky and cumbersome, and the break in period is somewhat tricky because they are very stiff out of the box. The sizing is also inconsistent. I measured my foot on a Keen brand Brannock at a Keen dealer and came out at exactly 11.5 on the size chart. I even called Keen to ensure that these boots fit true to size. They assured me that all was well and I purchased 11.5 boots. However, they were about half a size too big when they arrived. Needless to say I was quite disappointed, they slipped badly and I couldn't quite get a correct stride because my foot moved around too much. I added an extra insole to the boot just to help my foot stay in place and that worked well. However, it's still a bit oversized. I'd recommend purchasing half a size down. Pros: These boots are sturdy as heck. I know for a fact that my feet and lower legs are safe. They feel like they are in iron boxes and I like that. I hate worrying about whether something will hurt my foot or legs so these put my my mind at ease. They have a generous toe box so your toes are never squeezed. The waterproofing is excellent, my feet always stay no matter how long the boot is wet. Overall this is a pretty sturdy boot. I will not buy this boot again but I am somewhat pleased with it for now. My only real complaint is that the sizing is wildly inaccurate. I do not have time to guess sizing, very disappointed

These are my work boots when I am building or repairing fences or doing heavy work around our place. The soles and steel toes protect me mostly from myself! There could be a slightly smoother heel slide to enter the boot, otherwise they are great.

I've been wearing Keen brand shoes for about 10 years and have owned about 10 pairs of 6 different styles. For the past 4 years I've worn two of the lace up style steel toe boots and I love them. However, a lace up boot with 6-8" ankle can be hot in the summertime, so I wanted to try a regular pull-on boot and see if I would like it better. I work in the oil field and I spend half my day driving and the other half working on compressors. Very limited walking and standing, but lots of foot work maneuvering over elevated pipes, walking in gravel and standing in awkward positions. So now I've worn them for three weeks and here's my thoughts. The boot is very comfortable. I added some padding under the existing insole to increase the arch support as I have high arches. The toe, like all Keens, is roomy. That's my favorite part and the main reason I wear Keen shoes exclusively. The heal is loose compared to a lace up and took me about a week to adjust. It did rub my heal some at first, so I wore them around the house for an entire weekend to see if I could get use to it, or if it was going to be a deal breaker. After the second day of wearing them I didn't even notice any rubbing at all. Now, I simply love them and will buy them again. Here's my advice. If you do a lot of walking and climbing, go with a lace-up. It will give you more ankle support and probably be warmer in the winter. But if you want a cooler, comfortable boot (top of boot is open and vents heat from foot easily) good for standing for long periods and simple traverses, this is your boot. Again, this will NOT be my last pair of Keen Dallas Wellingtons. I love them and hope they hold up for at least a year or more.

So far really happy with this boot. These are my first slip on work boots and took a while to get used to but I love the look. Size is right on for me. Definitely don't go bigger unless you have a unique situation. Soles wear much better than any of the lighter duty work boots.

I would buy this product again and recommend it to others.

I own a excavation and tree service business in Central New York I absolutely love this specific model of boots they are extremely comfortable and last just as long as any large clunky redwing boot . There just about 100 times more comfortable and lightweight . The only thing I would suggest and I did mention this to the representative on the phone Thomas is that king should really design a slip over shoe that goes over boots for when you come into customers houses or for your own personal house so you don't have to unlace your Boots just to go inside to get something out of the fridge or out of the office. just a thought I think it would be a huge seller .

    Great but sizing is off

I am a size 7.5 99.9% of the time. Went with a size 7/medium width and even on a hot day with thick socks my feet are floating inside these boots, there is no support whatsoever - which makes them quite uncomfortable for long walks. I can feel the steel toe on the top of my foot as well every time I take a step and the boots bend. Well made though and good looking.

Very pleased. With Boots as well as how fast I received them.

    Had to return them.

It was the right size, loved the style, etc, but had to return them. They rubbed on the outside of both ankles so much I developed blisters. It looks like there is a fold of leather on the inside of the boot that rubs the lateral ankles. This has never happened to me before with any other boot I've owned- perhaps this was a defective pair, but I would not purchase again.

I would keep buying over and over
