Help Us Support Hurricane Dorian Relief

By Mark Steinbuck, KEEN Effect Grants and Community Specialist
Natural disaster response is a cornerstone of KEEN’s giving. Whenever disaster strikes, from the 2004 Southeast Asian Tsunami to the California wildfires of 2018, we plug into a worldwide network of experts that know how to provide the best relief.
KEEN is committed not only to disaster response, but better: a “Resilient Response.” We follow this code of ethics to ensure that our givings and our actions are the most beneficial to folks on the ground post-disaster, and we invite you to do the same at resilientresponse.org
As with Hurricanes Harvey, Michael, and Florence, we plan to once again volunteer to muck and gut houses or clear debris, as well as supply new boots for fellow volunteers in a later phase of recovery. Please consider volunteering with us.
Created by two long-term partners of KEEN, All Hands and Hearts and Good360, Resilient Response is a new code of ethics focused on long-term, sustainable solutions instead of potentially wasteful or even harmful disaster responses.
All Hands and Hearts – Smart Response has been our partner since 2011, and we have relied on them time and time again to give long-term relief to survivors of hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes and floods. Now in our top-tier Core Partnership cohort, we support All Hands and Hearts pro-actively and on a perennial basis. As with Hurricanes Harvey, Michael, and Florence, we plan to once again volunteer to muck and gut houses or clear debris, as well as supply new boots for fellow volunteers in a later phase of recovery. Please consider volunteering with us here.
Good360, another of our frequent partners, collects and distributes our products strategically when disaster drives the need for boots, socks, bags, and more. For Hurricane Dorian, we are sending over 3,300 pairs of new, top-quality outdoor and workwear socks. Socks, alongside other immediate supplies like water, diapers, tarps, and bedding, are high on the list in the first phase following a disaster. If looking to donate or organize a goods drive, please check out their Dorian Support page.
Since 2003, we’ve donated more than $18 million to nonprofit organizations and causes around the world through disaster relief, shoe donations, and grants. Learn more about our history of taking action and how we put our values in motion.
