  • Used to be my favourite boot...

    1

The previous generation of Gypsum was my go to boot. I wore it for daily forest hiking, and everyday use. Unfortunately, it seems this new generation is made on a narrower last. Significantly narrower. Hopefully this isn't a trend for the rest of Keen's lineup. Keen's 'unique' (read: wider footbed) fit was what kept me buying them. I would burn through a pair a year, and gladly fork out the money for a new pair. Sad to see the change.

I note the other review on here with interest as the owner describes the boots as wonderful but only getting 2 years out of the sole. I guess I sort of accept that wear rate as they are a superb boot and the slightly soft sole compound makes a world of difference to the comfort over an equivalent North Face boot. Comparing wear rates at £50 a year would mean that a pair of £500 boots would have to last a decade - which they tend not to. These are fabulous boots and I wear them daily professionally in my job as an Olympus Ambassador Photographer. Thoroughly recommended.

    2

I first came across this brand whilst browsing the outdoor suppliers via the web looking for some new lowland hiking boots. At 1st glance I quite liked the look and the design description suggested these would meet my requirements. My size is generally 10 1/2 and ordered a size 45 euro. They arrived and found they were too small so returned for a replacement of size euro 47 which fitted perfectly with a good quality walking sock. I found the boot extremely comfortable to wear and the keen dry system kept.my feet warm and dry. The only criticism I have with this brand (owned 3 pair's) is the sole wear rate. I find they do not last long at all and have all worn out from weekend hiking and needed replacement within 15th - 2 year'maximum. For a boot that is in excess of £100 + I find this disappointing which is such a shame as the boots are such a joy to wear. Once keen addresses this wear rate issue I would be more than happy to return as a customer. Al Jones
