Used for hiking, Nordic Walking, leisure walking in hot, cool, wet and dry conditions. Especially for Nordic Walking, which I think they are well suited to, as however rigid the mid-sole feels, there is enough flex to allow the foot to "roll" from heel to toe. They are really comfortable, and the build-quality is high compared with the other high-end walking, hiking and trail-running shoes I have used. They dry out very well from wet use, and I find the grip as good as I need in muddy and/or wet conditions. Sizing is interesting, and I could have done with more help from these reviews. I usually use a UK 9 (US 10, EU 43) in walking and hiking footwear. I had read reviews - though not on this site - that the Arroyo III comes up small. So the first pair I bought (blue) was a UK 9.5 (half a size up). My feet are not neither narrow nor wide. Width fine, length fine, roomier than I would usually have been used to, but the lace mechanism keeps them snugly fitting. So good, I thought I really should get a second. This time, I thought I would try a UK 9 (in brown). They obviously fit more snugly, but are fine, even with thin walking socks or liners, both in width and, more importantly, length. There is enough big toe room to allow for my feet to swell a little on long, hot, walks. Great.
