For those who are constantly crossing environments and defying boundaries, we designed a shoe that you'll never want to take off.
Behind the Design
This shoe was a mistake
Like chocolate and peanut butter, the unexpected combo of our original inside-outside hybrid has been a fan favourite ever since it was designed 10 years ago.
Whether it’s an early-autumn camping trip or a weekend away at a cabin in the woods, we always bring our Howser slip-ons. See all the ways to get that cozy Howser comfort.
Bring the Coziness of Inside Outside with Howser
Howser gives you the comfort of an inside shoe, outside. Whether it’s an early-autumn camping trip or a weekend away at a cabin in the woods, we always take our Howser shoes along. These warm and cozy slip-ons make great camp shoes—they’re a natural fit for chilly evenings relaxing by the fire or rolling out of the tent first thing in the morning to get the coffee brewing. We like to call them “a sleeping bag for your feet.”
FANS SAY: “I bought this shoe for two specific purposes, long evening walks with the dog, and comfortable camp shoes. They work perfectly for both. Comfortable enough for a 3-4 mile walk with the dog, and durable enough to do it on gravel trails.” - Norse78
THE IN-BETWEEN-ADVENTURES SHOE
FANS SAY: “I put these comfy shoes on in the morning along with all my ski gear and drive up to the mountains. I change into ski boots and ski all day. Then I get to my car, crack a beer, put the KEEN Howser II back on, and am happy as can be.” - Stu P.
Even the most active lifestyle needs some downtime. Here at KEEN, we’re all about super comfortable feet—all the time. That means when we’re out hiking, biking, swimming, and exploring, but also when we’re chilling at the cabin after a busy day, setting up the campsite, or at home packing for our next adventure.
WHAT MAKES HOWSER SO COZY
FANS SAY: “This has been my daily shoe over the last month while I've worked from home. They're cozy and keep my feet plenty warm throughout the day. Because the soles are a bit more rugged, I can wear them outside to walk around my yard.” - cbryans
We get that sleeping-bag-for-your-feet feel with a few cozy ingredients. First, all Howser shoes have a fuzzy lining for a super-soft feel (most are fleece, but some even feature an extra-fluffy faux fur lining). Inside are PU cushioned insoles that are universally loved by tired feet everywhere. But the best thing about Howser shoes may be the grippy rubber outsole; this sturdy outsole means you can wear them outside—outside your tent, outside your car, or outside your front door.
WHERE FANS WEAR ‘EM
FANS SAY: “My new favorite ‘everything’ shoe. So comfortable. I'm wearing this for dog walking, hitting the farmers market, and just trekking around the city.” - Pearl
KEEN fans wear their Howsers anywhere they want to feel as cozy as possible: around the house, popping outside to grab the mail, walking the dogs, or relaxing at the campsite with a few beers and some great company. Also, many KEEN fans who are nurses and other healthcare workers tell us they wear them after, or even during, their shifts. Whatever makes you comfortable!
THE HOWSER FAMILY
A camping shoe (or at-home shoe) made for those chilly fall and winter mornings (at your place, your campsite, or your cabin getaway). The cozy lining keeps feet all snuggly, and the low back makes them easy to shuffle into. An insole made of resilient PU cushions your foot for a soft-but-supportive feel. So comfy, in fact, that you might forget to take them off until you're already at the dog park and look down. No problem, because the rubber outsole means you can take these guys outside: to help carry in groceries, grab something from the garage, or just get a breath of fresh air.
Equally warm and cozy, the Howser II is an easy slip-on that goes on and off in a flash. It’s got an extra elastic panel at the top of the shoe to simply slide on, hands-free. The sturdy rubber outsole means you can wear them on wet grass, forest floors, and other places regular indoor shoes shouldn’t go.
Howser II Boot
Pull on your Howser II Boots to take the pups out for a bathroom break or to get an early start on your weekend getaway. A higher cut keeps your ankles wrapped in warmth and keeps detritus like snow or mucky leaves from getting into your shoes. The quilted upper holds in heat, so your feet feel nice and warm with or without socks.
Howser II Chukka
The Howser II Chukka looks like a high top, feels like a cozy slipper. A quilted upper keeps feet toasty, and the rubber outsole is approved for indoor and outdoor surfaces. The “laces” are actually an elastic bungee closure, so you can slip these shoes on and off with ease.
Howser II Leather
If you tend to be one of those folks that's extra hard on your shoes (you know who you are), go with a leather upper. KEEN sources the hides for these leather shoes from Leather Working Group-certified tanneries. They use processes to reduce chemical use and the impact on our watersheds, creating an environmentally preferred leather.
Little/Big Kids Howser II
Kids deserve cozy feet too. Keep small feet toasty whether kids are at home on chilly hardwood floors, sitting on the steps of your RV, or pitter-pattering around in the A-frame that’s your home away from home this weekend. These camp shoes are easy for kids to slip on and off themselves, and the rubber outsole is sturdy enough for inside-outside wear.
Cooler weather brings new possibilities for outdoor fun, and getting out of town feels amazing even when the forecast isn’t 75 degrees and sunny. Grab your fleece, your boots, and a cozy pair of camp shoes like the Howser, and seek some fresh air and a new perspective.
