  • Very comfortable for wide feet; Questionable build quality

    4

As someone with wide and flat feet who spent weeks trying on different pairs of hiking boots, these are easily the most comfortable boots out there. The moment that I put them on, I knew that these would be the right pair. I initially bought the Durand WP Wides last year, but within 6 hikes of usage the eyelet at the top of the boot mysteriously fell off. Thankfully, Keen was willing to cover this defect under their 1-year warranty program, but it's a little disconcerting that this happened with minimal usage (less than 40 miles of hiking in the PNW). They are incredibly comfortable to wear, and they make me look forward to hiking. The two reasons that I am giving these boots 4 Stars instead of a full 5 stars are because: [1] The questionable build quality, as mentioned above and [2] The grip on the outsole (bottom surface) of the boot is a ever-so-slightly slippery – I feel confident on most terrains, but occasionally I may slide on some angled rocks. In short, I love these boots and I would recommend these boots anyone with wide/flat feet, but I would keep build quality in mind.

    Excellent "Little Boot"

    5

Best Boot I have had, especially for work. This is my 4th pair of work Boots and I love them. Most comfortable as they last a long 12 hour day on your feet . I don't sweat in them like other products I've had. I also bought 3 pairs of the Sandals, great for in the water. Every shoe I have purchased has been outstanding in more ways than 1 !!!!! Highly recommended product and will continue to buy.. Thank Goodness they finally came to Canada in more places. We have an Excellent Rep here in Calgary. Thumbs up J.F

    Ready out of the box!

These boots were ready to use right out of the box. They fit my wider foot very well and have plenty of comfortable padding. I would definitely recommend this product to others. Plus it's American made! Can't get better than that.

    Great boot

    4

One of the best hiking boot I've had. Waterproof, durable with no real brake in period. This is the second pair and the only weak spot is the stitching by the small toe is starting to ware after a few years.

I want to like these boots but I can't

    2

I just recently finished breaking the stitching on my 3rd pair of these boots in the last 8 months. I have been using these boots for everyday working boots. I am in construction and typically wear them average of 14-16 hours a day. So I understand that I am putting these boots through the ringer but still 3 pairs in 8 months something has to give.the reason I gave them 2 stars is 1) the return police is great and the sales people stand behind what they say. 2) the soft soles make for a very comfortable boot. 3) these boots gripped the plywood and metal roofs very very good. Probably better then any other boots I have tried. I really wish I could find a pair of keens with the same soles and comfort but would actually last a little while.

    Great boot

    5

I have had these boots for almost 3 years and I wear them every shift at work. I work 10 hour shifts on my feet and they are still holding up great. They are also great for hiking. Even after countless hours and miles in them, the waterproofing is still holding up. The laces broke after a month of two, but I've replaced them with 550 cord. Overall a fantastic boot for the price.

    A superior hiking boot

    4

I am an avid hiker who frequents back country routes in Zion NP (staying away from the tourist trails in the canyon), the back country routes in Snow Canyon and the Virgin River Gorge and more within 100 miles of St. George, Utah. This is to say that I am usually off trail, bushwhacking in rough terrain, rocks, sand, bushes and slick rock. I am usually with the Outback and Red Rock Hiking Clubs of Southern Utah but also venture off alone with proper GPS and Spot Gen3. The Keen Durand boot is superior in every regard except one. Great fit with wide toe box, lacing, and especially sticky soles for the slick rock I hike on. I depend on the traction with my life, and as long as I have not worn out the tread, I can stay on fairly steep slopes in sketchy places. The one complaint (and the reason I have asked Keen to make good on its warranty three times) is that the stitching, especially on the outside of the toe box wears out from abrasion and the seams open. My view is that Keen should (and could) find stitching material that wears like iron. My boot repair shop in St. George stitches up my shoes and they use a heavier thread which seems to hold. Many of my hiking buddies wear Keens and most have the same problem. Keen has been good about standing behind its products, generally, as it should because as a customer, I am field-testing its boots. I admit that I beat the hell out of my boots and Keen has replaced them three times (which gets me through 3 years). Next time my boots wear out, I will have to spend my own money.... and I'm OK with that.
