  • Great boot

    5

I have had these boots for almost 3 years and I wear them every shift at work. I work 10 hour shifts on my feet and they are still holding up great. They are also great for hiking. Even after countless hours and miles in them, the waterproofing is still holding up. The laces broke after a month of two, but I've replaced them with 550 cord. Overall a fantastic boot for the price.

    A superior hiking boot

    4

I am an avid hiker who frequents back country routes in Zion NP (staying away from the tourist trails in the canyon), the back country routes in Snow Canyon and the Virgin River Gorge and more within 100 miles of St. George, Utah. This is to say that I am usually off trail, bushwhacking in rough terrain, rocks, sand, bushes and slick rock. I am usually with the Outback and Red Rock Hiking Clubs of Southern Utah but also venture off alone with proper GPS and Spot Gen3. The Keen Durand boot is superior in every regard except one. Great fit with wide toe box, lacing, and especially sticky soles for the slick rock I hike on. I depend on the traction with my life, and as long as I have not worn out the tread, I can stay on fairly steep slopes in sketchy places. The one complaint (and the reason I have asked Keen to make good on its warranty three times) is that the stitching, especially on the outside of the toe box wears out from abrasion and the seams open. My view is that Keen should (and could) find stitching material that wears like iron. My boot repair shop in St. George stitches up my shoes and they use a heavier thread which seems to hold. Many of my hiking buddies wear Keens and most have the same problem. Keen has been good about standing behind its products, generally, as it should because as a customer, I am field-testing its boots. I admit that I beat the hell out of my boots and Keen has replaced them three times (which gets me through 3 years). Next time my boots wear out, I will have to spend my own money.... and I'm OK with that.

The best pair of hiking boots I've ever owned!

    5

I bought my Durand boots after backpacking the Grand Canyon. My feet were trashed once I reached Havasu Falls with several nasty blisters and a couple of missing toe nails. My feet are so comfortable now on long hikes. I'm looking forward to thr Isle Royal ridge trail in Michigan this summer.

    Outstanding boots!

Outstanding shoe! I can't say enough about the quality of the build, fit and look of these boots. I take a size 11.5 in most shoes (including now my 6th pair of KEEN's) and would verify the fit of these in 11.5 as well having a great "out of the box" fit. Very comfortable for long hikes and throughout the day wear. If there was one caveat it would be that they are a bit warm and may not breath as well as other models for summer wear. As for KEEN and their customer service I have not found many companies who place such a high degree of importance in this area-kudos to the team.

    Excellent Boot

    5

Very comfortable boot, from day one, little to no break in required. I bought these prior to t trip to Ireland and only had 3 days to wear them prior to leaving. No sore spots, or wet feet, I wore them every other day for 12 days and never had to do anything special, they were just comfortable

    Best all-around boots

    5

This is the best pair of boots I've found. I have had 2 pairs now and wear these daily. I work in natural resources management, so these boots see plenty of dirt, mud, trails, water, and also lots of days in the office. Even after a couple of years of daily use, my first pair is holding up well and keeps my feet dry. I bought a 2nd pair because the tread had worn down on the first. Quality of construction is very good. No separation over a couple of years of use. Roomy toe area.

    Awesome

I've owned over a dozen pairs of Keen boots and these are hands down the most comfortable of any of them. I work in landscaping and wear them for 8-10 hours a day and they're great. Like most Keen boots I recommend going up a half size

Everything I wanted in a hiking boot and made in USA!

    5

Love the traction, comfort, breathability, stability, toughness, and made in USA. These worked really well during a recent day hike/rock scramble and were comfortable out of the box. Climbed Mount Fuji and some other mountain hikes in Japan, Mount Kinabalu in Malaysia, and did the Tongariro and Pouakai crossings in Northern New Zealand with the Targhee IIs and wanted one more lace loop of height to keep debris out. The sole seems to stick to rock very well and the tread works well in mud, snow, and even on road. All day long comfortable. The insulation worked really well in the Borneo jungle and on a snowy hike in the Izu Peninsula. Also really wanted a made in USA product. The Durand is as close to perfection for me as you can get. Even like the looks.
