Our Favorite New Sneakers for Spring
After months of winter boots, it’s here: The start of sneaker weather. That aaahhh of a lighter shoe, the rebelliousness in skipping socks… it’s magical. And with our new collection of sneakers, spring is comfier and lighter than ever.
One of the reasons fans love our sneakers is that no matter how you choose your shoe — by looks, weight, or materials — you get that KEEN performance.
Our sneakers have always walked the same path as our sandals and hiking boots, offering support, cushy midsoles to carry you farther, and durable, breathable uppers. Plus, our sneakers our Consciously Created, so they’re lighter on the planet, too.
Ready to tread lighter this spring? We reached out to KEENers around the globe and asked them to share their new, go-to favorites from our spring arrivals. Read on to find your new lace-up or slip-on in canvas, leather, suede, and more.
Coronado Suede sneakers for men and women
Vulcanized shoes just radiate chill spring vibes. Vulcanization refers to the way the upper is attached to the sole. We rely solely on heat and pressure to bond the natural rubber components, which means no harmful solvents or glues—and a 100% vulcanized shoe lasts longer and gets replaced less often.
We have two new favorites that use this construction. The men’s and women’s Coronado Suede sneaker, available in a surfy lace-up and zen slip-on (you can also find it in canvas), and the dressier, work-to-weekend version, the Men’s Timmons sneaker. Both styles look good and feel good, with springy comfort, a natural rubber outsole, and environmentally preferred leather.
See how the vulcanization process works, plus what it means when we say the Coronado suede sneaker is Consciously Created:
“I love the Coronado! It combines so much of what I love about a vulcanized style. How it's made is amazing. Each shoe is made with a significant amount of time by hand, and the vulcanization method is so original. Then the footbed! It is so comfy that I keep wearing them all day long.” - Selim, KEEN Europe
YESTERDAY’S STUFF, TODAY’S SNEAKER
We’re all about doing better — from supporting disaster relief to choosing materials to lessen our impact on the planet. And one of the easiest things we can all do is to take used things and make something new.
Our shoe designers had that in mind when they opted for shoe uppers made from recycled P.E.T. plastic bottles. And if you’re thinking, uh, plastic bottles—that doesn’t sound comfy at all, we get it. It seems counterintuitive. But after diverting plastic bottles from the landfill, they’re broken down and turned into superfine threads before being woven together. The result is a super flexible, soft material that feels pretty nice against a sockless foot (you rebel you) and also gives a little kick back to the planet.
UNEEK SNK sneaker sandals
This feel good material is in the new women’s Elena Oxford and Elena Slip-on, where you can find the recycled plastic bottles in the shoe’s breathable lining and laces (the lining is also very cute). The designers didn’t stop there, though; the upper is also made from recycled canvas and the outsole uses less rubber to save materials.
Looking for something more fun and funky? The breathable knit upper in the new UNEEK SNK—part sneaker, part sandal—is also made entirely from recycled plastic bottles. You can find this style for men and women.
And if you’re ready to skip sneaker season and go straight to sandals, we have a slew of them that made from recycled materials.
“The Timmons has quickly shot up the ranks to the top of my shoe rotation. In fact, there is no more rotation. It’s just the Timmons. I bought 2 pairs. I had one coming in the mail but actually I bought a pair in the Keen store because I wanted to wear them before they could arrive. I wear them to work, going out and almost to the gym once when I left my gym shoes at home. For the last month, I’ve only taken them off to go to sleep. They fit every occasion in my life and even if I don’t go out of the house all day on a random Sunday, I will wear them all day. They may look like sneakers, but it feels wrong to call them sneakers.” -Blake T., KEEN Digital
Spring weather already puts us in the mood for a mid-day stroll—add a feather-light sneaker and we’re inspired to push it even farther. Our designers are always working their magic, balancing support, comfort, and durability with choosing materials and construction techniques that bring the weight of each sneaker way down.
For example, the women’s Lorelai sneaker already had a minimalist look and feel; but the cute new Lorelai Hemp is lighter than ever. It’s also one of the eco-friendliest sneakers in our collection. It has a renewable hemp upper, construction that uses less glue, and an air-injected outsole to save resources.

Then there’s the fan-favorite canvas Elsa IV sneaker. It’s always been a go-to for travel, but now even more so—thanks to its new direct-attach midsole, this sneaker is 10% lighter. This construction also makes it comfier, with resistant, long-lasting cushioning. This updated version still has that soft heel panel and hug-like fit that we love.
For men, you can’t go wrong with the uber-light Venture Vent hiking sneaker, which came out with new colors this spring. This is the perfect combination of everyday style and trail performance. The vented, breathable mesh upper keeps things light while an aggressive outsole and a locked-in feel means you can also go full blast on the trail.
Why Elsa IV?
“My KEEN Elsas are my go-to shoe for travel (and everyday life). They just recently returned with me from a month in India. I walked for hours each day, down all kinds of roads and paths, and they never let me down. Together, we navigated back alleys in Varanasi, marveled at the Taj Mahal, and explored ancient forts and markets in Jaipur. I honestly can say that these shoes have done it all and they still look good. I am looking forward to taking them on my next adventure!” – Alie K., KEEN Creative
