Fall Looks We Love
The signs are all around: Brown grass. Bored kids. Zucchini exasperation. August may be blistering—and your Labor Day escape may still involve flip-flops—but summer is on its last legs. For us, we always welcome the change of seasons because it means new adventures (cider tasting! wild mushroom hunting!) and a refresh of our wardrobe (layers! hats! socks!).
To get in an autumnal state of mind, we took a few KEEN employees, ambassadors, and fans out to explore a chillier part of the state, decked out in our favorite fall boots and sneakers and asked them to show off a few fall wardrobe staples.
The rule of not wearing white after Labor Day is long gone (if you don’t know about that rule, lucky you). Extend those carefree summer vibes by pushing white into fall, adding layers, and mixing textures. By pairing white pants with the quilted Elsa III sneaker, Suzanne has a look that treks from sidewalk café to forest wonderland.
“We’re lucky in Portland to have Forest Park. In one minute you go from walking in an urban environment to then being surrounded by trees and bubbling streams. It’s magical and practically never-ending. Living in the Pacific Northwest usually means you’ll need a hat and a rain jacket. I always wear layers so I’m ready for all-day adventures.
“I’d wear this outfit to meet up with friends around town or just chill in the backyard. The Elsa III sneaker is so easy to wear and goes with just about anything. It comes in a lot of colors to enhance any outfit.” – Suzanne, KEEN Senior Web Merchandiser
Why is it still ninety degrees? Why can’t we wear this outfit now? This look is all things fall. Buffalo plaid. That cozy, boxy silhouette. Warm Presidio II boots. This outfit is meant to go all over the place—and that’s where Nina intends to take it.
“Living in Northern California, I find that a lot of people are dressed for adventure. There’s always a mountain trail, lake, river, or beach nearby. With so much diversity in our landscape and a myriad of parks, it’s easy to end up on an impromptu hike or take a lunch break on a beach or under an oak tree.
“I’d wear this outfit all over the place: out to a brewery with an outdoor patio, on a morning walk on the cliffs catching up with a friend. This look is really cute and the Presidio II boot keeps my feet warm and comfortable all day. I like the traction and grip on the outsole so I can trust my feet from the pavement to the soil.” – Nina, Field Service Rep, Northern CA
One boot to rule them all
If you’ve spent even two minutes looking around the KEEN website, you know versatility is our mantra. The sandal with the toe bumper. The adventure pants you can wear to work. Our men’s fall boots are no exception. “The 59” boot offers both city sophistication and an outdoorsy feel. Dress it up, dress it down—and since it’s fall, pair it with layers. We really love this layered button-down look that Ari and Kenny both rocked.
“My wardrobe has definitely changed since moving to Portland. Portland is far friendlier to outdoorsy dress wear, so I always attempt to find clothes that are a mix between streetwear and outdoor, technical gear. That way I don't have to have so many clothes. This is definitely my city outfit. But it can absolutely be worn outdoors as well, while going on chill fall hikes like Multnomah Falls with friends and family.” – Kenny, KEEN fan
Tip: Choosing layers in similar hues really smartens up an outdoorsy ensemble.
“Living in Bend controls my wardrobe. At night around town, everyone has puffy coats and we all wear our KEEN shoes pretty much nonstop. I rock this outfit when the weather cools off in the fall and we're taking our time outside, resting up from big adventures and getting ready for more. “The 59” boot is super comfortable with soft leather but have a robust sole and tons of traction.” – Ari, KEEN Ambassador
