Karraig: The Boot Born from Long Treks in Europe

We often get our best ideas when we're out of the office.
Like that time in Europe a few years ago, when we encountered a lot of rain, slippery rocks, muddy terrain, wet grass and overall really brutal conditions on the trail (even by Portland standards!). We decided then that we would design a boot to fit into these epic conditions while taking fans further into the backcountry.
The badass boot born from that trip: the men's KEEN Karraig.
Travel to Montebelluna, Italy, to see the story behind our new backpacking boot:
With Karraig (pronounced care-egg), we took our original KEEN fit and comfort, and stepped up the hiking performance to create our most technical backpacking boot yet. Constructed with an enhanced lug design for extra grip, a heel brake to dig in on the descent, and a dynamic lacing system to dial in the fit around your ankle, it lays the groundwork for waaaaay-off-the-grid adventures.
When we started thinking about the Karraig boot, we wanted to have so many things combined in this product, that it almost felt undoable.
Whether tackling the Lake District in the U.K. or the Appalachian Trail in the States, Karraig is designed to help you get to those lesser-seen views in comfort.
Just don't forget to lock in those backcountry permits...
