Hitting the Reset Button in Lake Powell
Public land shouldn’t be a political issue, yet that’s what it has become. After a month on the road talking with ranchers, loggers, activists, authors, and climbers, I needed to clear my head a bit.
With Edward Abbey’s words in my head. I canoed Lake Powell to do exactly that.
“Do not burn yourselves out. Be as I am—a reluctant enthusiast…a part-time crusader, a half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it.”
KEEN Ambassador Zeppelin Zeerip’s current film project has him driving his F-250 adventure rig throughout the West documenting America's relationship with public lands and finding adventure between diesel fill-ups. You can follow Zep on Instagram @zeppelinzeerip.
