‘There Are No Holidays and Weekends on a World Tour’
Editor’s note: This story started with a short message to our Fan Services team: “We are a French family doing a world tour. Your shoes fit perfectly well with our trip. Please find in the attachment picture of the 5 of us in Laos.” As a mom with kids around the same ages, I was doubly intrigued and couldn’t wait to hear more. They replied that their world tour started on the 5th of December and will end the 24th of August. They had never heard of KEEN, but were advised to buy KEEN sandals at a shop in Paris called Au Vieux Campeur because “they are very robust, perfect for hot and humid weather conditions, and suitable to go into water.” Thank you, Au Vieux Campeur, and thank you to Léontine and her family for sharing their story with us!

Hi, my name is Léontine, I´m 13 years old, I’m French, and I’m doing a 9-month world tour with my family.
I’m the oldest child. I have a 10-year-old brother (Jules), and a funny 5-year-old sister (Rosalie). I’m creative, messy and very interested in IT systems, and this is why I’m the blog leader, and I often solve computer issues for my parents « who are not always updated » 😋.
My father (Quentin, 41) is a snack flavorist, so he buys every new flavored potato crisps he can find in the countries we visit to inspire him for his next creations when he will be back in France.
My mother (Sandrine, 41) is a perfumer, so she smells everything like flowers, food…
“The only two moments we are not wearing our KEENs are when we are sleeping or sometimes when it’s mandatory to take off our shoes to enter houses or temples in Asia. The rest of the time we are walking in mud or in waterfalls, hiking, biking, climbing, jumping, swimming and enjoying life in KEENs.” – Quentin
My father had this travel project planned for many years, and in May 2017, with only me in the car, he shared his idea with me first to get my feelings about it! And guess what? I was very excited and the same evening I was convincing my mother!
We are always traveling and there is always something to see.
After 3 months of traveling, I miss French food like: cheese, charcuterie, croissants, and tasty bread with real butter! I also miss some friends and family, but I often call them by Skype.
Léontine and Rosalie wear KEEN Kids Moxie sandals.
I also miss my room and my bed for me alone, because during the travel, it’s always the three children in the same double bed and it’s always the fight to know who will sleep in the middle, which is considered the wrong place.
During the trip, my parents are teaching us school lessons often in the middle of a gorgeous landscape. It’s better than staying in a classroom for 8 hours! We do roughly 2 times 2 hours school per week, but there are also « lessons » from daily life like : English, math (when we pay something,) history, geography…
But when my father is the teacher it’s sometimes too strict 😋.
There are no holidays and weekends in a world tour. We are always traveling and there is always something to see. I would love to have one full week, staying quiet in the same guesthouse doing nothing, or just maintaining the blog or designing movies for each country on our YouTube channel.
I’m looking forward to going to Japan for the culture and the language, New Zealand because we will travel for one month in a campervan, and Tahiti (Polynesia) to go scuba diving with turtles, dolphins, and clown fish!!!
Every KEEN has a story, and we love hearing yours! Please post a review of the KEEN shoes you wear, and if you have a story or photo to share with us, please tag @KEEN and @KEEN.Kids, or pass it along to firstname.lastname@example.org for a chance to be featured. Happy trails!
