AOL Travel Blog – Gear Suggestions for Holiday Weekend Trips Outdoors

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

“Should you pack hiking shoes or sandals? Why choose (or deal with lugging them both around) when you can have two in one with the KEEN Kanyon? They dry quickly, are ultralight and provide a closed toe for optimal protection when you’re using them as hikers. The bungee lacing allows for an optimal fit without having laces dangling off of your shoes when you’re out on the trail.” - Mike Barish of Gadling AOL Travel Blog

Southering Living: The Water-to-Wheels Sandal

Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

Southern Living’s Travel Editor shares her favorite finds for an inspired year. Here’s an excerpt about the KEEN Whisper sandals for women.

“The gear: This amphibious sandal is equally at home on water and land. With the ventilation of a sandal and cushioning more like a sneaker, it’s great for rocky shores and beachcruiser bikes—an all-around handy shoe for a cruise or active vacation.”

“Why we love it: Keen is making efforts to find eco-friendly alternatives to materials containing toxins, reduce its manufacturing waste, and repurpose waste materials for use in new products.”

L.A.T.E. Ride Encourages 10,000 Cyclists to Ride after Midnight in Chicago

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

The L.A.T.E. Ride was started 22 years ago to support Friends of the Parks, a Chicago non-profit dedicated to supporting the Chicago Park District in their efforts to establish and maintain their extensive park network for everyone to enjoy. Over the years Friends of the Park has helped to establish new parks and playgrounds, support upkeep and maintenance of existing parks, provide for new equipment and help with establishing new programs for children through the park facilities. Friends has also fostered strong environmental initiatives, and programs to help understand the importance of the natural setting to the city for recreation, playgrounds and leisure use.

“KEEN sponsors the event because it fits with all of the initiatives that KEEN believes in, including: involvement with the environment and opportunities to incorporate play into everyone’s lives, use of environmentally friendly transportation, and giving back to the community,” commented Lynn Rowe of Buy Design Sales.  Lynn is an independent sales representative for KEEN.

Examiner.com Features Kids Sunport Sandals

Monday, July 12th, 2010

My almost 3 year old enjoying a local water park in the Keen Sunport water shoes.
Water shoes are the perfect summer shoe. They make it easy to wear one shoe all day long, no matter if you day takes you to the pool, beach or water fun in the backyard. Here’s a look at a few water shoes that my 4 year old, almost 3 year old and 10 month old have been testing out and enjoying this summer…

This waterproof shoe is made from EVA. It is tough, crack resistant and features an anti-odor anatomical textured footbed. It can be adjusted for proper fit in multiple places. This shoe feels soft, not stiff like some other water shoes and is comfortable according to my almost 3 year old. This is one she picks out of her shoe basket almost everyday. It also has a nice toe guard to stop little toes from getting smooshed or sliding out the end when they get wet. These come in a large range of sizes from infant to youth in a ton of color/pattern choices for boys and girls.
