Outside Magazine’s 2012 Winter Buyer’s Guide Highlights KEEN Revel Boots

Sunday, November 13th, 2011

Outside Magazine reviews the best gear in the 2012 Winter Buyer’s Guide. Here’s what they had to say about the KEEN Revel boot.

“The waterproof Revels are warmer than they look. The key is three layers of low-profile insulation beneath the footbed that kept testers warm even into the single digits. The siped sole stuck well on icy trails, and considering how much insulation sits between your foot and the ground, the Revels dish out impressive snow feel—they don’t feel all mushy underfoot.”

Outside Magazine’s Gear Guy: What Are the Best Wet-Wading Shoes?

Monday, August 22nd, 2011

Q: WHAT ARE THE BEST WET-WADING SHOES? What’s the best footwear for wet wading while fly fishing?

A: One is to simply buy a pair of all-purpose “water shoes.” Something like the KEEN McKenzie shoes ($90). These are like a low-cut trail-runners or light hikers, but made from water-resistant materials and designed with mesh panels that allow water to drain away. They also have grippy rubber soles and front bumpers to protect your toes.

From one blog to the next . . .Venice H2 “Sport Sandal”

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

outside-blog-keen-april-20095Today we learned that our friends at Outside rediscovered the versatility of one of our favorite classics!  Check out today’s blog at Outside Magazine.

Gear Army: Keen Women’s Venice H2 Sandal
Keen’s Venice H2 “sport sandal” ($95) might just as well be called The Do-Everything Shoe.

From hiking to swimming to cycling, this one does it all. On the trail, the lugged sole offers great grip on slippery rocks and loose dirt, but doesn’t weigh nearly as much as a typical hiking shoe. And my feet never got hot: the open design allowed for great ventilation and they dried quickly without stretching out or creating hot spots from rubbing.

I took this shoe swimming and rafting. . .during a rafting trip down the Dead River in Maine. . .
