“After a day of hiking in the NC mountains and getting caught in an afternoon summer deluge, where we walked a good 30 minutes in the pouring rain, we set our shoes on the deck to dry. Heather Burke has a wealth of knowledge about all things skiing. She’s got a lot of great info at familyskitrips.com and luxuryskitrips.com. Be sure to check out her “Top 10 Reasons to Ski” and “Top 10 Family Friendly Destinations.”

Heather also talks about great places to ski outside the U.S. The Alps (Zermatt, Mt. Blanc) topped her list, along with Canada’s Lake Louise and Whistler/Blackcomb areas. In the U.S., Utah is always great, along with Idaho—both shi-shi (Sun Valley) and homespun (Soldier Mt. and Brundage).

Heather gives lots of cost saving tips too, like hitting the slopes at night, but don’t skimp on your hot chocolate budget—it brings much joy to a chilly child.
