I’ve been noticing a new trend of sustainable search engines (sorry if this is old news for all those more tech-savvy than me!) - Here are a few of my favorites:
Blackle: A Google-based rendition of a more earth-friendly search engine. Your screen is rendered black instead of white to save energy. As of this morning 1,066,882.549 Watt hours have been saved.
Ripple: Every time you search you can choose whether to give 6 days access to clean water, feed a village, give 2 days of education, or finance a $100 loan for a day.
Forestle: This engine saves 0.1 m” of rainforest with each search you do. So far Forestle has saved 80,203.1 m” of rainforest!
