I have only had these boots for one day, so my experience is pretty limited. However, all it took was one day for me to be completely sold on these boots. I'm a geologist and I work on a lot of construction sites where I'm on my feet all day on rough, uneven terrain. I had a pair of Red Wing boots that were absolutely awful to wear. I developed plantar fasciitis because of the poor support and fit they provided. After three weeks of suffering through excruciating foot pain, I decided enough was enough and purchased these boots. Today was my first day wearing them and my feet feel amazing. No pain and no soreness after 11 hours on my feet. Not only am I thrilled with the quality and fit of this product, but I'm relieved to be able to do my job without my feet being in pain. I'm even thinking about bringing them on an upcoming trip to Olympic National Park because they don't feel like steel toes, just like a nice sturdy pair of hiking boots. I'm a Keen customer for life.

I went out of my way to find these boots because I already had Keen hiking boots and loved them. At the outset, I loved these boots. Apart from being heavier, the fit wasn't any different than my hikers and I had zero break-in time. They were comfortable right from the start.

The trouble is, after six months of wear doing archaeological survey, the steel toes have become so painful to wear that I simply can't endure a day in them anymore. They pinch and the edges of the steel portions stick out and give me blisters. I'm not sure why this is when they were plenty roomy and comfy before, and my feet haven't changed size! I do realize that a few miles of hiking per day with lots of shoveling will wear down a boot faster than ordinary walking, but I really would have expected better than six months considering that I've had my Keen hikers for six years.

    Tough Enough for Treeplanting

Comments about KEEN Women's Detroit Mid (Steel Toe):

I bought these boots to use for a summer of treeplanting in Ontario. I was super happy with this purchase and the performance of the boots! They were mostly waterproof until I would have to go through swamps and the water would get inside my shoe, but that's typical of a treeplanter's day. They were broken in within the first day, and remained comfortable throughout the season. Most treeplanters have to get new boots every season, but mine could definitely last another beating!

Thanks, Keen for making durable and comfortable work boots!

    Best Steel Toe Boots

Comments about KEEN Women's Detroit Mid (Steel Toe):

I work in the tissue industry where on 12 hour shifts. These boots are comfortable and lightweight. Has the right amount of cushion and arch. The metatomical footbed is amazing for about three months, then wears out. The only reason I did not rate five stars is because of the footbed timing. I've tried other insoles and they do not compare. Wish we could purchase the insoles separately. I have purchased another pair and will continue to wear them.

    Best durable boots

Comments about KEEN Women's Detroit Mid (Steel Toe):

I seriously love these boots. As an outdoor educator and backpacker in a Northern climate these have taken a beating and held up like no other footwear ever has. I treat the leather a few times a year with beeswax amd they have stayed watertight for the two years I've worn them nearly every day.

Comments about KEEN Women's Detroit Mid (Steel Toe):

All I can say is thank you. I have bad feet and ankles and finding boots that don't hurt my feet and cause me more pain has been impossible until now. I have the salem boot and it just kills my feet. It's hard to find steel toe boots for women with small feet. When I put these steel toe boots on it was the first time in five years that my feet didn't start screaming in pain. I don't know how durable they are but they are the most comfortable steel toes I have ever worn. I will buy them from now on. I have a wide bone in my feet so I do suggest to buy a half a size larger if you don't have narrow feet or if you will even up were thick socks in the winter.

    Excellent Boots

Comments about KEEN Women's Detroit Mid (Steel Toe):

These are the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. I had a pair of newport sandals that I love and purchased these for work. I have owned them since 2014 and wear them at least 3 times a week. They are awesome. Now, one of the points on the sole is tearing off, but they are still the best boots I own. I wish they came a little taller in the ankle but they are excellent.
