This waterproof hiking boot keeps your feet dry and lets them breathe, and the aggressive outsole bites into the terrain. It's built for all-day comfort, and the mid-cut height adds ankle support.

  • 4mm multi directional lugs
  • Contoured heel lock
  • KEEN.Dry waterproof breathable membrane
  • Torsion stability ESS shank

We've carefully selected leather uppers designed to last. Then again, if you're wearing your KEENs daily, they won't always be scuff and dirt-free. To treat day to day wear and tear, especially on lighter color leathers, we recommend using a leather cleaner and conditioner, found at most footwear dealers and/or shoe repair shops.

I have owned my KEEN Targhee II Mid boots for two years and they have been nothing less than extraordinary! I hike year-round in the Utah mountains and desert. My Keen boots have troughed thru rain, snow, ice, rivers, sandstone desert and rugged rough rocky terrain. 5-star ratings on comfort, durability and water proof. I have logged approx 500+ miles in the past two years as I switch between my Keen and the highly rated Salomon X Ultra GTX boot. I'm very impressed with the durability of this boot as they have taken a beating. I wash and oil the boots once for each season of the year and this has helped maintain the leather uppers.

I generally wait at least 3 months before ever writing a review, because let's face it, most things are going to, or should be great when you first get them, and I actually wish more reviewers would consider this.

Just under 4 months ago I purchased these boots and I absolutely love them. They are by far some of the most comfortable boots I have ever owned. They may be laced up to be snug without being or feeling too tight. I feel confident and stable when walking on rocks or boulders. Traction seems good on wet surfaces. I like the "wider" front of the boot which keeps my toes from feeling cramped. I feel they provide great ankle support. They have kept my feet dry (as they're supposed to). Their easy to get in and out of too. I would certainly purchase another pair in the future even though this morning, one of the eyelets (actually a banded nylon loop) where the shoelace goes through broke... Typically for me, if something actually "brakes" under normal use/conditions... I would give it a 1 star especially since it's less than a year! But only because I love these boots Sooo much, I will give it 3 stars. I called REI this morning and was told to bring them in pickup a new pair under warranty... So all is not lost... I have read in other reviews of this happening as well. I can only hope that KEEN takes note and shares this quality control issue with their manufacturers...

    My first disappointing Keen experience

    By

    from Pebbles, Ohio

I am a firm and loyal Keen fan... For instance, I'm on my seventh pair of Voyageurs. But the Targhee
II mid waterproof has been a disappointment. The problem? They are definitely not waterproof. I got them in the Spring and they leaked right out of the box. I take a five mile walk every morning and they do not keep my feet from getting wet just by walking through grass wet with dew. They are good looking, have good support and substantial soles, but they certainly cannot be called waterproof. The laces are not holding up well, either.

Not just boots but good friends

        By

        from Sydney Australia

It is with tears in my eyes that I am leaving my Keen Targhees in a hotel I. Santiago de compostela.
I have just walked over 800 Kms from San Sebastián
Last year in the same shoes I walked from Lisbon to Santiago de compostela
I would have done over 2000 Kms in this one pair of boots
They are absolutely waterproof. The uppers are still in good condition but the soles have had their day.
I will be buying another pair when I get home.

        Great boot for a ranger

        By

        from NY

        Pros

        • Light weight
        • low drop
        • Water proof
        • wide forefoot

        Cons

        • Foam doesn't look good
        • Not high enough on ankle

        Best Uses

        • Hiking
        • Work boot

I'm a park ranger in upstate NY. I've worn the same pair of boots daily for almost 3 years now. I hike at least 15 miles a week, sometimes a lot more. They've been through two wildland fires. They're still water proof and just starting to show signs of stitching coming loose. These boots are rugged, yet very light weight. My feet stay dry, yet cool throughout the warmer months. Great boots, I highly recommend to anyone into minimalist footwear but still need a tough boot. These come closer to meeting those requirements than anything else on the market. They're very low profile, but have enough cushioning so that sharp rocks don't hurt. They're also very wide in the forefoot which is important for foot health. My two criticisms would be that they don't have a very classic leather boot look and that the ankle doesn't come up high enough or tighten enough. When bushwhacking I get lots of sticks and leaves in the boot.
