Our website was recently awared “Best Shopping Website” from the 2011 WebAward Competition! The Web Marketing Association holds this annual competition to recognize outstanding achievement in web development.
The websites entered in the competition were judged on design, innovation, content, technology, interactivity, copywriting and ease of use. Our submission scored well above industry average for all criteria leading to the overall win. The judges even said, “Wow. A fantastic combination of visually stunning graphics that are married well to great content. And that all leads the user to the shopping cart. Really well done.”
KEEN’s website features both enticing visuals and an easy-to-use interface for customers. The Recess Revolution section encourages site visitors to get out and experience nature in their daily lives. Photos can be uploaded for a chance to win free KEENs and various downloads are available to add a playful touch to an outdoor enthusiast’s next adventures. KEEN Fans are also able to “try on” some of their favorite KEEN sandals with jeans or a variety of socks to find the perfect combination.
KEEN created Forest Park in downtown Portland, Oregon to raise awareness about the current threat of invasive species and the 20-year vision of Forest Park Conservancy to restore Forest Park. A special thanks goes out to the staff and volunteers from the Conservancy who helped us throughout the day!
Originally created by Rebar, San Francisco art and design collective, PARK(ing) Day is an annual, one-day, global event where artists, activists, and citizens independently but simultaneously temporarily transform metered parking spots into PARK(ing) spaces: temporary public parks.
Our site was part of a metropolitan effort for the launch of The Intertwine, an initiative to create the world’s greatest systems of parks, trails, and natural areas in the Portland area.

KEEN Sales Representative Michael Stevens of Waypoint Outdoors shows us the in’s and out’s of a regional show called the Western Winter Sports Tradeshow, which takes place each January in Portland, Oregon.
About WWSRA
Western Winter Sports Representatives Association is a non-profit association that produces tradeshows and on-snow demos designed to facilitate the buy-sell cycle between active, winter & outdoor sports sales reps and their retailers.
At these events, sales reps rent booths where they show and demo the latest equipment to employees, buyers, and owners of retail shops and answer any questions they may have.
Every Friday we have a bagel breakfast for the entire office. This Friday we did something a bit different…raising $2,000 for charities near and dear to KEEN employees.
The event took place on Heritage Trail on Pittsburgh’s Southside between 4th and 10th streets.
The Heritage Trail is part of the The Great Allegheny Passage, which is a trail system that connects Pittsburgh to Washington, D.C.
ABOUT THE EVENT
For the third consecutive year, KEEN partnered with Dick’s Sporting Goods, Friends of the Riverfront and Tree Vitalize on the project. During the course of the day on Saturday, April 18th, volunteers planted 117 indigenous large trees, black-eyed susans and sunflowers, as well as thousands of flower bulbs. The goal of the planting was to create a native tree canopy along side the trail.
In addition to the plantings we also installed 4 benches, 1 Bike Pittsburgh bike rack and a new crushed limestone trial leading to a scenic viewpoint.
All in all we had nearly 350 volunteers mostly comprised of Dick’s Sporting Goods employees and their friends and family. In exchange for a $35 donation the volunteers received a pair of KEEN, a logo’d water bottle from CamelBak, an event T-shirt and KEEN Socks. The funds raised this year will be used in part to fund the expenses for next year’s project.
