Gear Institute: Favorite Women’s Hiking Gear For Spring Features KEEN CNX Haven

Tuesday, March 26th, 2013

“The 8.2 oz. KEEN Haven feels like a glove for your foot. The soft and incredibly lightweight upper wraps and hugs the top of the foot like a slipper while the rubber outsole and PU midsole add some muscle for trails. The shoe is super breathable – it’s almost entirely mesh with synthetic overlays for protection and structure. I found that these shoes perform best on flat, mellow trails where speed, not distance, is the goal.” – The Gear Institute

KEEN Howser Slip On Shoe

The Howser slip-on shoe from KEEN has us telling Old Man Winter, “Bring it on!” Described as a sleeping bag for your feet, the bunched and quilted nylon fabric upper is accented nicely with stitching details, is water-resistant and boasts a slim silhouette. We can just imagine the lush feel of the microfleece liner once it’s slipped on. The outsole is a natural rubber compound and the insole is cushy memory foam that molds to your feet. Vagabondish KEEN Akita High Boot Review

Friday, November 30th, 2012

In a recent post, Vagabondish reviewer Katie Hammel goes searching after what she describes as the Chupacabra, or Holy Grail, of footwear. The search began as follows:

I was looking for more than just a pair of versatile boots. After booking a trip to Russia for late December, I was looking for the chupacabra, the holy grail of boots, a mythical pair that would fit a set of criteria so specific I was glad I had more than four months to find them.

I figured I would be searching until the very last minute before my trip, trying to find a single pair of boots that were: comfortable and low-heeled enough for walking around during the day, and on which I felt secure enough to brave the icy sidewalks of Moscow; stylish enough, with a slight heel, so that I’d feel comfortable wearing them to a trendy restaurant or paired with a wool or cotton dress; and warm enough that my feet wouldn’t freeze on the frigid Russian nights.

How’d her search end? Check out the rest of her Akita High Boot review to find out, or shop for a pair of your own on www.keenfootwear.com here.
