KEENtern Community Garden Project

If you haven’t noticed lately, KEEN has been running a new initiative called #KEENtoGrow, which supports the development of community gardens around the country. Us interns, or “KEENterns” as we are habitually called, decided to take part in the campaign by heading down the street from our Portland headquarters last Friday and serving at the Zimmerman Community Center‘s new garden.

We worked for a few hours clearing out blackberry bushes and weeds to make room for new planter boxes! The weather was on our side for the day, with cool temperatures and an overcast sky. At the end of the project, we surprised just about everyone by how good we were at gardening!
